Following my Intuition in the Everglades
Holly, Yvette and Penny - beautiful free spirits who are also nomads like me
I was going for a morning walk with one of my best friends. We saw these 3 beautiful free spirits and exchanged morning pleasantries. A little bell went off in both of us. We quickly talked about it and then promptly turned around.
I asked them if I could photograph them. It is so funny because the reaction is always: Who me? Why me? All the gremlins about getting your picture taken instantly come out.
Luckily for me, we were able to set up a time later that evening to get together and capture these beautiful women nomads. They were leaving the next day and I really wanted to make this happen.
It was very windy so I had to rely on the beautiful winter natural sunlight. I grabbed my Lensbaby Burnside 35 mm. You’ll see a little swirl and movement in the background. I love that whimsical effect. I also used my Canon RF 70-200mm lens.

Yvette and Holly have this really cool tepee tent. These two ladies travel together and love nature and value friendships.
Penny had recently outfitted her van and made it her new home. #Vanlife
I loved all the natural wood that Penny incorporated into her daily life. She also used Turkish towels as window treatments but they worked double duty as a towel or sarong.
Yvette and Holly recently tied this driftwood to the front of their Jeep. There are so many layers of stories to tell and share in visual branding.
I love all the greenery and all the textures. Yvette wanted to sit on her blanket and surround herself with more texture from the pine cones. We had beautiful back light to play with too.
We got to enjoy some great conversations too. Penny has Solar panels on top of her van. I love her Turkish towels hanging and the textures in her quilt. Follow Penny on IG: @JourneywithPenny
My hubby caught this behind the scene pic.
I was inspired to put on my own tropical dress and to take my own portraits to capture my time in the beautiful Everglades.
