PAMELA BIASCA LOSADA
Pamela and I met about two years ago at a women’s networking group. We later met and had tea together. We discussed how we could both support each other and stayed in contact. I was first impressed with how Pamela is passionate about helping people live their best life through the foods they eat, their attitudes, their emotions and an interesting non-invasive device called BEMER. Pamela models a healthy lifestyle so you know she is walking her talk.
Rappahannock Times owner, Cee Cee Wells decided she wanted to have a Branding Session because Julie Hill of EVP POWER told her about Dorothye Broderson’s Branding Session. Those word of mouth referrals are the best way to grow your business. And I found, that I get the best clients from that type of marketing as well.
Buckingham Greenery Owner, Connie Hom wanted to take her branding to the next level with professional images incorporating her love of plants. Connie brought her favorites: Palm plants, Lily of the Valley, Sunflowers and Orchids. She even had a hair piece designed to wear in her hair. It was subtle and it added to the exotic feel of the image.
It was a beautiful day and Ruth was rushing to her portrait session after dropping off her children. Like everyone that is getting their portraits taken, she was nervous. Ruth hadn’t had her portraits taken for awhile and she wasn’t quite sure what to expect. She had seen her friend Dr. Leslie Cohen’s portraits and was impressed enough to have her portraits done as well. Ruth wanted to have her Personalized Portraits done for her new website and social media.
Dorothye Brodersen is the CFO of Infotel Systems, Inc. Dorothye is a savvy business woman who co-owns Infotel Systems, Inc with her husband, Chuck Brodersen. I first met Dorothye through the Retail Merchants Association. I liked her right away and put her on my wish list of powerful Richmond women I wanted to photograph. I would touch base with Dorothye every once in awhile and she wasn’t ready to be photographed. Last winter, Dorothye decided to bid on our silent auction item of receiving a Personalized Portrait/Branding session. And she won! I was so thrilled.
I first met Mary Foley through her book “Bodacious Woman: Outrageously in Charge of Your Life and Lovin’ It!” I scanned it and I thought if I did live my life with bodacious intent then the people in my life wouldn’t like me. That was because I was living my life to please others and not myself. It was a big shift for me and I started working towards living a life that pleased and worked for me. That has evolved into letting go of negative people in my life. I found the more I let go of negativity the more room I made for positive people/experiences to enter my life. Today, I am living my bodacious life and making progress to living it fuller each day.
Once a year, my best friend travels all the way from Moscow to visit me. Each year, I practice photographing on her and give her new fabulous portraits to celebrate herself with. It is true that Michelle is beautiful and she is not a model by trade. She is a chef. Every time we take her portraits, her friends exclaim how awesome she looks and wish they were beautiful like her so they could get the same result. And every time, Michelle tells them they ARE beautiful in their own unique way and that they can have portraits just like this!
MONTANA BOWMAN, SENIOR PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY IN RICHMOND, VA
Here I want to showcase Montana Bowman a rising senior. I wanted to photograph her for more than a year. I met Montana at the Agriberry CSA booth at a local farmer’s market. I was immediately captivated by her and gave her my business card. She is full of beauty and grace. I love Montana’s gown, hairstyle and makeup. She is a natural in front of the camera. I hope Montana pursues in interest in modeling. It will neat to see her modeling career flourish!
I love taking high school rising senior portraits and especially in Richmond VA where there are so many beautiful backdrops to play with. Recently we set out to do a teen girls stylized shoot. The theme was Rural Couture and the backdrop was my residential studio and downtown Ashland, Virginia.
We love showing young women how beautiful they really are. We also want to empower young women to feel beautiful and confident as they reach a significant milestone in their life and go on to the next phase in their life.
Hailee was our youngest participant in our Teen Stylized Rural Couture Shoot. She has the most amazing eyes.
Here is what Anetra of NeeChic said about picking Hailee’s gown and accessories:
Hailee was next in line. I initially was going to go with a different color and style, but changed direction at the last minute. Hailee told me that she loves sparkles, she with most of the other girls are cheerleaders after all, so I wanted to give her what she wanted. The coral was stunning on her light caramel skin tone and very complimenting to her piercing hazel eyes. All of the jewels on the upper bodice of the gown and the waist, along with the blinged out earrings and rings, were the right amount of sparkle for this cheerleader!
Elyssa’s makeup was clean, yet glamorous. I opted for earth tone colors on her dark brown eyes because the colors really made them ‘pop’. I opted for clean, natural-looking foundation because the majority of the photo shoot was conducted outside. Also, Elyssa is a teenager with really good skin, so there was no need to overdue her makeup. I wanted her skin to look like skin and not to appear that she was wearing heavy makeup, which would have been accentuated in the natural lighting. All-and-all, the finished look was perfect for the theme of the photo shoot and perfect for Elyssa.
Angelika is my model for aging gracefully. When I first met Angelika, through one of my clients Marilyn Scott, I immediately liked her. She has a beautiful German accent and she has a distinct taste in fashion. Here is a woman who knows what she likes and pulls it off impressively. Angelika is kind hearted and warm. I am in complete awe of her. If I could look like her when I am in my 70’s, I would be most happy!
Have you met Fine Art Photographers for children? I hadn’t met anyone until I met Lara. Please go to Lara’s website and check out her beautiful work at www.larakoppmann.com
Meet Rashida! She is the Center Director of Jenny Craig and here is her story behind the scenes.
Shoe Crazy Wine’s slogan is “Give a girl a great pair of shoes and a great bottle of wine….and she can figure out the rest herself!” This speaks to how fun, playful and empowering Gwen is. We had such fun playing with amazing shoes, boots and wine bottles. Brittany Williams (Beauty by Brittany) did Gwen’s hair and it turned out so beautiful! Then Holly Byrd Miller (Makeup by Holly) did her magic bringing out Gwen’s natural beauty. We had so much fun! We were laughing our way through most of it. Gwen called us the ‘Dream Team” and it stuck. Now we want to go get t-shirts that have the ‘Dream Team’ on them. Read below how this amazing company came to be. You can find Shoe Crazy Wine a the Urban Farmhouse and many other locations.
Jeanne had seen my work with Lisa Schaffner and wanted to update her LinkedIn portrait and also wanted to capture her three beautiful kids. I could tell that Jeanne is an amazing mom by how respectful, kind and engaged her teenagers are. It was a real treat to meet them. They are a very talented and beautiful family!
I met Jeannea through NAWBO Richmond (National Association of Women Business Owners http://nawborichmond.org) where we are both members. I wanted to get more involved so I joined the Marketing and PR committee which Jeannea heads. We always have fun at our meetings. Jeannea is full of personality and she is a beautiful woman. When we talked about doing a portrait session to support her brand, I knew we would be laughing and having fun most of her session.
Vanessa won her personalized portraits from the LB Academy Silent Auction back in September. Vanessa was in for a real treat that I wish all young women could do. She first met with Anetra otherwise known as Nee Chic Styles (www.neechicstyles.com) and went shopping at H&M. Anetra helped her pick out her 3 outfits, and accessories – all from H&M.
I first met Cheney when I was deciding whether to participate in the Scout Guide Richmond Volume 3. I was in awe of her beauty and then when I met her daughter (13th descendant of Pocahontas), I just knew I had to photograph them. We had a wonderful morning together. Cheney wanted to update her head shot for the cover of Scout Guide website.
I was the lucky recipient of Kathy’s Success Career Coaching, specializing in overachieving women. My experience with Kathy and the progress I made was a profound game changer. What I learned from her, saved me years of therapy. Kathy helped me during a pivotal point in my life. Each year, I attend her Vision Workshop and we talk about what we accomplished the year before and then we create a board with pictures for a vision ahead. I love my Vision Board and look at it every day. It helps me move the needle toward my life goals and keeps me grounded.
Marilyn is married to one of my favorite people to work with – Ken Wayland. Ken is the president of Free Agents Marketing. We use to work together when I worked for Bon Secours Virginia Health System. I was in marketing and his ad agency implemented (and still does) all of Bon Secours campaigns. Ken always has a smile and a positive attitude. He works hard and sees the potential good in everything. People who work directly for him, say the same thing. I had met Marilyn years ago and only had minor interactions with her. Now that I had the opportunity to interact with Marilyn more, I wish I had had more time with her. She is just as awesome as Ken is! You can see right away why they make a great team and why they’ve been so successful as marriage partners, parents of two beautiful daughters and work partners.
Jenni Kirby is a ball of energy! Right out of the gate, she was game to have her portraits taken. Jenni turns 50 in September and she wants to own it! Love her attitude. We had so much fun. We were laughing constantly and it really felt like our very own “Girls Night Out!” I love how vibrant Jenni’s portraits are. You can feel her vivacious personality come through! I also admire what www.makeupbyhollyb.com did. Holly is a very talented makeup artist and I am thrilled to be working with her.
I first met Susan at the Beyond Barbie series she organized and led. Susan is an amazing woman, artist and friend. Please check out her work at www.susansinger.com
After Susan and I connected at Beyond Barbie, we started to meet regularly to coach each other on our artistic dreams and ambitions and to hold each other accountable. I’ve never done anything like this before and it has been very impactful as I sort out how I can empower women to feel more confident and beautiful.
It is all about the networking…..that is how I had the good fortune of meeting Lisa McSherry and taking her portraits. I love Lex’s of Carytown and just marvel at all the beautiful formal dresses and fun casual wear she has. From getting to know Lisa, I learned she moved Lex’s of Carytown three times and each time she doubled the space. Her current space is a whooping 5,200 square feet. What an inspiration for me as I too want to have my own retail space someday. I was also impressed that Lex’s of Carytown beats out Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue as the #1 place to purchase formal wear in Richmond. Wow! Very impressive and Lisa has done this in under 17 years.
We all do it….we all measure ourselves up to other women, especially the women in the magazines. What would be like to have that body…..have their beauty? And then I started photographing and I noticed the beauty in everything and as time has gone on, what I thought might be ordinary, I saw the beauty, the uniqueness in each person. For many years, I had in the back of mind my desire to photograph a woman in my neighborhood. She doesn’t wear much make up and she is usually busy running here and there with her family. I saw her inherent beauty and wanted to show her what I see.
Traci is one of my best friends. She has such a beautiful heart and her smile lights up any room! Traci does so many nice things for me and I wanted to repay her by giving her a personalized gift from me. What woman doesn’t want a great portrait of themselves? One that she and her family can look back on and say “Wow! I looked amazing. I’m glad I took that time to capture me when I was XX years old.” It can be stressful to have your portrait taken even if everyone thinks you are beautiful. We all see our signs of aging or fuss how our hair didn’t lay just right. We take those quick glimpses in the mirror and go about our day. A picture makes some of us pick apart our flaws. Why? Regardless of the reason, it is my job to relax you, pose you and use good light to help you look your best.
