Love Our Families Fearlessly

My son has very strong opinions about my body.

💜

During our recent time together at Thanksgiving, he was hugging me and then grabbed my belly and said that I needed to get rid of 'this.'

💜

I told him "Be careful - that was your first home!"

💜

But seriously, how did this body-positive mom raise a son who questions his own mother's body?

💜

Society's messages have some credit to take and his developing brain.

💜

The truth is, Koby is being a mirror about my own lingering body insecurities.

💜

He hears me mumble how women my age are thinner than me despite my best efforts.

💜

In the end, I hope Koby remembers the time I went mountain biking with him in college, how I carried and cared for him when he was young, etc.

💜

The truth is - when Koby thinks about my life and the mother I was to him - he won't be thinking "she would have been perfect if she didn't have a stomach bulge."

💜

I hope this holiday season we are able to love our families fearlessly and forget our bulges.
