Our First Impressions of our new Full-Time RV Journey

Our 1st month we stayed at the Hideaway Retreat in Navarre, FL (Photo credit: me)

Imagine the very first night in your ‘new life,’ you go to sleep hearing bombing and gunfire. We heard that every night for the next 30 days. For some, it is the sound of freedom, for others, it is the sound of terror. I couldn’t imagine this being my everyday existence.

But here we were in Navarre, FL near the Eglin Air Force Base and Special Ops. The Air Force practices its precision nightly and with vigor! One night, it was so loud, Jeff my husband, got up to answer our door because we thought someone was knocking on it. Turns out it was their gunfire in rapid succession.

We had never been to Florida’s Panhandle before and wanted to explore the Emerald Coast. The Hideaway Retreat is also located on a private beach where we could walk daily and take in evening sunsets.

The Hideaway Retreat is decorated in Shabby Chic and the new owner put a lot of attention into the details. Here are some images I captured.

The resident Kitty will welcome you!

We were in site #3 where we had a quick walk to their private beach on the Santa Rosa Sound. That’s our Grand Design Reflection 300RBTS

The Sunsets are A-MAZ-ing here!

Make sure you stick around for the “Blue Hour” which is usually right after the sunsets for 15 minutes.

The Hideaway Retreat has this cute 1958 Vintage RV you can rent close to the Bath house.

The Bath house is decorated in Shabby Chic with updated fixtures. The Laundry facility has all new machines too.

Morning walks with my husband, Jeff on the private beach was a great start to our day.

You can also see the Sunrises if you go to the left and around the corner. I love watching the Pelicans dive for their food.

We tried to bike every other day. In the last 2 weeks, we figured out how to bike from our campsite to Navarre Beach. This was my first time learning to bike in the sand. We ❤️ our Specialized Diverge Gravel Bikes.

The sand is a pristine white and we read where the sand crystals came from the Appalachians. It was neat to see the different wildlife.

I never got quite used to the evening bombings and was ready to see different parts of Florida after a month of being there. I’m vegan and gluten-free, so I was glad to have Whole Foods in Destin but I was missing Trader Joe’s.

We are enjoying our travels and love exploring on our bikes to different areas.

Our next stop is Micanopy, FL for 2 nights before we head to Clearwater.

Evening Sunset at Navarre Pier on Navarre Beach. The Great Blue Heron was looking for his next meal.
