Thrive with Rachel - Buti Yoga Instructor

Rachel and her dress are epic! We used the leaf blower to blow Rachel’s hair, and Laura threw the back of her dress up in the air. I also used my Profoto B10 with a gel to create dynamic backlighting.

Rachel is an RYT 200 yoga instructor and holds additional yoga certifications across Buti Yoga, Primal Flow, Deep, Sculpt, Buti Bands, and HotCore. She believes knowledge is power and continually challenges herself to advance her career and teachings through continued education courses she completes annually. Her commitment to herself and the collective is, “I will never stop learning and growing.”

I met Rachel through a mutual acquaintance who helped me find models for the Creative Weekend play I had with Laura Dillon Rogers Photography. We were looking for women who could move and felt comfortable in front of the camera.

Rachel is a Breast Cancer survivor who discovered her passion for yoga following her breast cancer diagnosis and treatment at age 33. While she always held a passion for health and fitness, it wasn’t until the completion of her reconstruction surgery in 2018 that Buti Yoga found her. She was then introduced to this practice, and she found a deeper connection, appreciation, and love for herself and yoga. “Buti Yoga has enabled me with the deepest of healing, a sense of identity, and to discover what is most important in my life truly – now it’s my purpose to help others find the same.”

I wanted to play with double exposure. I found this frond by the Rio Verde River and selected it to use creatively for our session. I liked it as I imagined it being a royal crown.

We played with different poses and had an inspiration board to guide us.

Rachel returned at night, and we played with Light Painting on the Heliopad. We had a full moon which you can barely see because we had full cloud coverage.
