Christmas in Clearwater, FL

I got to get my pic taken with Santa Claus - he was spreading good cheer to everyone!

We came to Clearwater Florida to see my parent’s friends, John & Sue. It had been about 20 years since I saw them last and I’m hopeful I can connect with as many people as possible on our adventures.

We spent 2 weeks in Clearwater and enjoyed their biking trails and time with John & Sue. They are so generous and kind. They were always a bright spot in my childhood and they continue to shine love on everyone they encounter. They are just that kind of people.

One day, we went to Tarpon Springs, just north of Clearwater. I had all kinds of good memories going there as a kid. I love how they put a potato salad in the middle of their Greek Salad. It is quite a delight. Tarpon Spring is a Greek community that is also known for its sponges. Check out these cool sponges. We even saw a sponge bike.

I love all the textures and bright colors.

We wanted to check out a Tiny Community in Tampa, FL. We already live in a Tiny Home on wheels and what did it look like to have a more permanent one. We decided that we really like our RV and want to continue exploring for years to come. Maybe when we settle, we’ll have a Tiny Home that Jeff builds for us.

We stayed at the Clearwater RV Travel Resort. We were able to find a spot in the back that was quiet on a pond. That’s our Grand Design Reflection 300RBTS

Every day we heard various birds chirping, squawking, and quacking. I picked up a Canon RF 600 mm lens had a great time capturing these beautiful birds.

There are so many great trails in Clearwater. We were able to bike from our campground to Clearwater Beach. There is a Pinellas Trail that goes north and south for 50+ miles too. We found a live edge wood shop near Dunedin. Jeff made me 2 tables that had live edges. I love that authenticity.

I’m originally from Michigan, then Virginia and I enjoy a white Christmas, so it was really different to be in Florida for X-mas. What a treat to see all the pretty decorations. The Dog Mural is in Dunedin, FL.

We noticed the frame on the RV is bent so we will need to get that fixed. That isn’t supposed to happen and thankfully it is covered under warranty. Also, our truck got a nasty dent and a long scratch on it from a gate not going up. They say on the RV journey that there is always something that needs to be fixed and so far that seems to be true. I’m so thankful for Jeff being mechanically inclined and able to fix, make and solve almost anything! Lucky me.

We found that Florida is less inclined to wear a mask. Most stores require a mask but one store said “no” masks required. It was an Organic store filled with healthy food. It is not what I expected. The restaurants and bars are busy. Some people told me you just have to live your life. I also understand it is hard to balance the economy and keeping the COVID infection down. We are doing our best to keep to ourselves and wear our masks wherever we go in public.

Our next stop is Melbourne, FL to see Jeff’s Uncle and to get together with my best friend Michelle with her lovely mother.
